Resources for Puppetry on the Web

Crabgrass Puppet Theatre is a participant in the Vermont and New England States Touring Programs. Contact the Vermont Arts Council, and the New England Foundation for the Arts for more information.

The members of the Crabgrass Puppet Theatre studied at the University of Connecticut, which offers Bachelors and Masters degrees in all aspects of puppetry and theater.

The Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry, located in Mansfield, Connecticut, has one of the best collections of puppets in the country, including figures by Frank Ballard, Bil Baird, Julie Taymor, Brad Williams, and Margo and Rufus Rose.

The Puppet Showplace Theater in Brookline, Massachusetts recently celebrated its 30th anniversary season. Puppeteers from all over the country perform at the Showplace, which offers a different show each week.

The Puppeteers of America is the national organization for puppeteers in the United States. The P of A presents puppetry festivals throughout the country, and is an excellent place to get started. There are also dozens of local Puppetry Guilds affiliated with Puppeteers of America. We belong to two: The Connecticut Guild of Puppetry and the Boston Area Guild of Puppetry.

UNIMA-USA is the US branch of The Union Internationale de la Marionette (UNIMA) an international organization of puppeteers.

Sophie the Wonder Dog came to us from the MSPCA Springfield Animal Shelter. Their web site has wonderful pictures of animals available for adoption. The animals are pretty wonderful, too!
